Sneaker Shopping For the Holidays

FashionOutfits
Nov 19, 20183 Comments

I can’t believe we are more than halfway through November. I’m going to have to get started on my holiday shopping now! My mom and I have a long standing tradition buying each other shoes for Christmas so there may be another pair of these New Balances may be under the tree for her. We’ve been sending each other loads of pictures of stylish sneaker outfits lately. As it gets colder and my workdays get busier I really just prefer to be comfortable, so tennis shoes have been my go-to. They are great for somebody like me who loves high/low styling. There is something very chic about a sporty sneaker mixed with your everyday workwear!

You may know this about me already, but I am a die-hard eBay addict. It’s the first app I open every morning to see what’s new. I’ve found so many great shoes on eBay over the years and it is a fantastic place to look if you are looking for deals on sneakers. I keep saved searches for Golden Goose sneakers (another gift possibility for my mom and sis!) to make sure I get to see all the newest listings. 81% of all merchandise on eBay is brand new with a “Buy Now” option so shopping is a cinch. 69% of the listings ship for free too, and my personal experience with eBay shipping is that the sellers ship incredibly quickly. I’m keeping my eyes peeled for cute sneakers on eBay to add to my wishlist this year!

Walk the Dinosaur

Long time Sea of Shoes followers will know my obsession with dinosaurs. If you look hard in my living room you will notice several plastic ones tucked into bookshelves. Naturally I could not resist this adorable dinosaur sweater by Coach! It’s super soft and I ordered mine in a XL for a sloppy fit.

Blazer and Boots of the Season

Happy humpday all! I have an outfit to share that I have been excited to wear for months. I pre-ordered this Isabel Marant blazer back in August and it finally was delivered on Monday, and the timing could do not be better with the great fall weather we have been having. I knew this blazer would be a great investment because it’s an update on a staple I already wear constantly. My go-to weekday look/travel look is always a mannish blazer, grey jeans, and some kind of boot. It’s something I can put on without thinking about and feel like myself in.

You remember the gorgeous L.D. Tuttle boots I mentioned I was lusting after in this post? Well, I was beyond flattered and very grateful when L.D. Tuttle offered to send me a pair. They are a dream come true, and the quality of the leather is completely unreal. I have been wearing them constantly since they got here and I have gotten so many compliments on them! These will totally be my boots of the season, and for many to come as well. Thank you so much L.D. Tuttle.

Best Shows from Spring Summer 2019

I had the privilege of attending this show and from the moment the show started you knew that this was a collection would be something of a departure from any Comme Des Garcons show, like we were about to witness something historically important. Models moved slowly down the runway in coats slit to reveal a bulging stuffed belly, coats revealing three dimensional lumps and bumps attached to the hips, and perhaps we were most moved by the lobbed off suit carrying heavy chains. It was a deeply personal collection that seemed to speak to the heavy weight Kawakubo has carried “mothering” CDG for the last 45 years. There have been some wonderful pieces written about this collection you may enjoy reading, such as Rachel Tashjian’s for Garage and Vanessa Friedman’s for NYTimes.

Preppy Denim Skirt

I fell hard for this denim tie waist Ulla Johnson skirt when I first saw it. It’s a very fresh take on a preppy 70s staple. So chic for fall with a classic camel v neck sweater (my sweater is by Baldwin) and cognac knee high boots (mine are Chloe from many, many years ago).

We got back from Paris late last week and while I am glad to be home I am missing the ambiance of Paris. Luckily for me, upon returning home we found that the leaves here are starting to turn and we are experiencing some drizzly cooler weather that makes it feel like fall is finally here. I’ve been styling some of our shoots for the next few weeks and I love playing with layers and cozy knits. I can’t get over how amazing these boots by L.D. Tuttle are!  So cute with miniskirts and tights.

FASHION IN FILM: Body of Evidence (1993)

Happy Friday! I’ve been looking forward to our next edition of Fashion in Film very much and I hope you love this one as much as I do. Today we are going to delve into the 1993 erotic thriller Body Of Evidence, starring Madonna, Willam Dafoe, and Julianne Moore. This movie may have a two star rating on IMBD, and an 8% on Rotten Tomatoes, but it is a personal favorite of mine. Why let lukewarm acting and ridiculous plot lines get in the way of enjoying a fun sexy movie? That’s why I’ve been looking forward to a long time to rewatching this one for our next Fashion in Film feature. Pour  yourself some wine and grab a box of Cheez Its. You are about to watch a movie with a lot of sex scenes set to saxophone.
