Red, White, and Plaid All Over

Red, White, and Plaid All Over

Happy Friday guys! This is an outfit I’ve been meaning to post for a while…whoops! Things got a little crazy with traveling lately. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know I was in LA earlier this week for A Current Affair. It was so much fun seeing all of my vintage friends and shopping the show.

I got this plaid coat in Paris at Merci’s amazing store. It’s unlined and incredibly lightweight, so it is perfect for spring in Texas! The brand is Barena, and the quality of the coat is truly remarkable. I wish their women’s clothing was more readily available, it seems not many places carry it. Farfetch does have a small selection.

Now that it is spring I’m feeling not wearing many dark colors. I’m swapping black and grey for creams and whites! I am so glad I got these jeans, I have blogged about my love for the Citizens of Humanity Rocket jeans a few times before. This is my third pair of them, that is how much I love the fit!

Paris Outfits and Tips

Paris Outfits and Tips

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen we took a short trip to Paris over the last few days! We booked this trip back in November when an amazing flight deal came up and we’ve been really looking forward to it. It was definitely not enough time! I’m ready to return again soon. Click below to read on!

Trench and High Tops

Trench and High Tops

All white with a splash of beige on this gloomy wet Monday morning. I don’t mind though, my mind is in Paris! We leave on Thursday, I cannot wait. I bought these Chuck Taylor high-top sneakers for the trip. I figure I’d better pack comfortable shoes and have some cute looks to wear them with while we’re there.

My jacket is Style Nanda, jeans are from Urban Outfitters a long time ago (similar here), t-shirt from American Apparel, bag from Ferragamo, vintage beret, sunglasses by Quay, and Converse high tops.

Packing for Paris

Packing for Paris

Happy Monday! I’m very excited that March seems to be going by at warp speed because Jeff and I have a trip to Paris planned coming up very soon. It can’t come soon enough for me. We spent all weekend watching French movies to get in the mood. I’m thinking about my wardrobe while I’m there and what to pack. I always struggle with my lack of practicality when it comes to packing. I think a need a good coat as a fail-safe wardrobe hero before I go. This Tomas Maier peacoat is everything I could dream of!

The Long Road to New Shoes

The Long Road to New Shoes

This may sound kind of ironic, but I’ve had some pretty bad luck with shoes lately. I had picked out the shoes I wanted for spring a few months ago and was waiting for them to become available for purchase. Those shoes were the Saloon boots by Dorateymur. Aren’t they dreamy? I ordered mine on Browns and waited anxiously for them to arrive. Three days after I placed my order I got a refund from Browns. Huh?? They had sold the last one in my size in store. I was pretty crushed if I’m being honest. I had picked out so many outfits in my mind to wear them with.

Well, back to square one, I thought. I picked out a gorgeous pair of patent boots from LOQ, a new LA-based shoe brand I had never tried before. I waited for two weeks for the boots to arrive only to find they ran an entire size too small. Of course! Upon checking into an exchange, I found the shoe had sold out entirely. Now I was starting to get a tiny bit frustrated. I know I’m the last person on this planet that needs more shoes, but we all know how happy (or unhappy in my case) a new pair can make us!

I looked and looked for a shoe that would fill the void left in my heart from all this shoe heartbreak. I stumbled on these Kurt Geiger Carvela pumps on ASOS and fell instantly in love. I ordered the white pumps right away and would you believe it? They were also sized incorrectly. I ended up giving the white pair to my mom, and ordering us both a pair of the gold Antidote pumps. So now between the two of us, we have three pairs of this shoe total.

I’m so glad I finally found a pair of shoes that could break my streak of bad luck. And the best part, they were a fraction of the price of the shoes I had my heart broken by! Word to the wise…if you are thinking about ordering this shoe, order a size below your normal US size. I’m normally a 39, so I ordered the 9, but it arrived marked as a 40. I ordered the 8 next time and it fit perfectly.

Wearing Carvela by Kurt Geiger Antidote pumps in gold, Stylenanda pants, a striped crop top I got on consignment, and vintage clip earrings (similar look here).

Miniskirts and Boots

Miniskirts and Boots

We’ve had a few windy, cloudy days. I’ve been in the mood for boots and miniskirts…for me, that is such a go-to outfit formula and beloved look. It’s a look I love because it’s flirty and a bit sassy. I remember when I was first dating Jeff I wore a lot of skirts/boots outfits. Combat boots with tweed a-line minis, python ankle boots with ruched floral miniskirts come to mind when I remember some of those looks. I think it’s a good look for first dates, or any time! I wear this combination all of the time, especially with these super cute Marsell boots.

Wearing a plaid miniskirt by Marc Jacobs (similar here by Tibi), a vintage mohair sweater, fishnet tights, navy coat, Ferragamo Fiama bag and Marsell mid calf boots.

FAUX FUR FRIDAY

FAUX FUR FRIDAY

I think I’ve been saying this in  my latest post but our weather is all over the place right now. Yesterday it was 87 degrees! I’m not loving the idea of summer starting early. That being said, this was just a few days ago and it was 40. That’s Texas for you.

My mom gave me this coat she got from StyleNanda. I don’t know why she didn’t want to keep it, it’s so amazing! I’m really in the mood for faux fur right now and I’ve had my magpie eye on this adorable Shrimps star-embellished faux fur with a peter pan collar. I have a little 60s mini shift dress that would look adorable under it. Isn’t that how I always justify new purchases though? “I know just what will go with this!”. I’m trying to buy less vintage and more new clothes at the moment. My wardrobe could stand a little modernization and I think a show stopper faux fur is just the ticket!

Wearing a StyleNanda faux fur from last year with cropped flare jeans, a Strathberry tote, Versace sunglasses, and Giorgio Armani ankle strap cap-toe pumps.

Sixties Mood

Sixties Mood

I have been in a sixties mood lately. It’s been a lot of fun for me as it’s an era I don’t normally play around with. This dress kind of started it for me, I was with my mom going through old clothes and rediscovered it. I must have had it for over ten years! I don’t remember if I found this or my mom did, but neither of us can remember where it came from.  It fit me perfectly, a rare miracle for me and empire waist dresses. All I needed to go with it were some big flashy earrings and kitten heels!

I’ve been thinking about adding more sixties into my wardrobe and what to wear with miniskirts in spring. I’ve come to the conclusion the kitten heel is finally actually having it’s moment. It seems like every summer for the last five years the magazines tell us, “the kitten heel has returned!”. But there were never any truly cute kitten heels to buy Even if they were shown on the runway, there were only ever ultra-conservative retail options for kitten heels that just made them feel kind of first-ladyish. I do believe that now is the time of the kitten heel because so many brands have been doing them really well. There are so many fun options right now, it’s got me so excited!

Below are some of the ones I am considering for my spring wardrobe. I think I am leaning towards the Dorateymur shoes…I am a sucker for red!
