Hello from San Miguel de Allende! I’m here with my boyfriend for a few days of shooting and relaxation. I’ve been coming to San Miguel since I was 10 years old, it always holds a special place in my heart. We’ve been exploring and walking for miles and miles all over the city. It’s a great workout!
On Monday of last week I started a new fitness challenge I wanted to tell you all about. If you spend any amount of time on Instagram, you’ve probably come across fans of Kayla Itsine’s Bikini Body Guid (BBG) program. The transformations of people who use her program are amazing! I’ve been in a bit of a fitness rut the last few weeks, not feeling challenged enough by my regular routine. I already had a hair of curiosity about BBG, so I downloaded the BBG app (Sweat!) to try it out.
I was surprised to learn that I’d be doing three 28-minute circuits per week, with three days of cardio as well. Immediately I thought to myself, “That is less time than I already spend working out! Sounds good to me!”. Upon actually doing these circuits, I learned that Kayla makes every second of those 28 mintue workouts count. I was pouring sweat and gasping for breath. I loved being that challenged! I finished up my first week today and I am thoroughly sore everywhere. I’m all in and I’m going to do Kayla’s 12 week program (with four beginner weeks as well). I’ll be finishing up roughly around the end of October. That’s a long haul, but I’m super excited. Prior to this challenge, as I may have mentioned in the past, my typical routine consisted of some pilates, Ballet Beautiful, and Sleek Technique. I still love these workouts and do not plan on giving them up during this challenge as I can use them as my cardio.
Because I did mostly ballet workouts…my fitness wardrobe was entirely made out of leotards and leg warmers. I had no gym tights and precious few sports bras. Since I can’t exactly jog around my neighborhood in a leotard, I treated myself to a few pieces from Lorna Jane to get me started on this fitness adventure. They’re so comfy and cute!
I’ll keep you all updated on this challenge, expect more fitness posts and progress reports soon!
Wearing Lorna Jane pink zip sports bra with Lorna Jane leopard print blue shorts and Nike sneakers (sold out but similar pair here) and a Jawbone to keep track of my heart rate!

I have to thank you for allowing me the chance to see one of the most beautiful cities in the world–San Miguel de Allende. I went there in 2011 on a whim, during the semana de los Muertos, after reading your blog and seeing the beautiful photos you posted. That week, I met wonderful people, learned about Mexican food, and breathed and lived in a world of art. I remember sitting in the middle of El Jardin one afternoon–as I gazed around, I just felt truly happy and grateful. Once again, thanks. Your SMA photos always make me feel nostalgic. Keep having that feel-good vibe in your blog!

how much could one expect to slim down and tone with this challenge? I’m 5’2 and 120 lbs. I call myself skinny fat, while I am small in size, I have a lot of body fat so I’m looking to firm up and tone… would this be a good challenge for me? Also, I like to do 30 minutes of cardio on the elliptical machine 3-4 times per week, would this be beneficial to add to this work out regimen or not?
