Five Fashion Films You Might Not Have Seen Before

Five Fashion Films You Might Not Have Seen Before

Hi guys!

I just took some time off after having surgery two weeks ago to recover. I thought some down time might be nice and relaxing, but trust me, after two days in bed, I was dying to get back to work. This period of mandatory rest came to me during a time that I have been feeling extremely creative. My mind has been completely immersed in fashion and all I wanted to do while I was healing up was style and shoot. Not being able to do this, I decided to binge fashion movies to keep my creative juices flowing.

It’s a real shame there aren’t more movies about the fashion industry than there are. There are plenty of fashion documentaries but not so many plot based movies about fashion. I decided to seek out a few of my old reliable favorite films for fashion inspiration, and I also found one that was new to me too. I’m sure a lot of you have seen a few on this list, but if you haven’t,  check them out and let me know how you enjoyed them. I binged these fashion movies all in a two week span. It was great fun and creative fuel.

Happily Ever After

Happily Ever After

It’s Valentine’s Day and I am so excited about it this year. I know it is kind of uncool to like Valentine’s Day, but my husband and I absolutely love an excuse to spoil each other and reflect on our favorite memories together. Our wedding was just about a year and a half ago and was unquestionably the best day of my life. It’s not often a married woman gets to try on wedding dresses, so I was thrilled for this opportunity to try on these stunning dresses from the Après Ceremony Collection by WHITE by Vera Wang. Après is French for “after” and Vera Wang’s newest line for David’s Bridal is designed for your happily ever after. For dancing, toasting, and celebrating, the White by Vera Wang Après collection is for the wedding day and beyond. I can totally see wearing these for years to come afterwards.

Above wearing crepe mini dress with sequin strewn overskirt, love!

I know from experience how incredibly hard it is to pick the dress for what will be one of the most special days of your life. It is a lot of pressure. The Après Ceremony collection from White by Vera Wang are absolutely classic, elegant, and relevant today. A total representation of why so many women dream of wearing one of her dresses for their big day. I picked out this two-piece set to wear, because I was enamored of the sequins strewn throughout the frothy tulle as a contrast to the clean sixties inspired bow-embellished shift worn underneath. Totally brilliant and perfect for the bride who wants to have some fun on her big day (this would make a great reception dinner look as well). The crossback dress is similar in effect and has an absolutely ethereal feeling to it.

This strapless nude cocktail dress is so romantic and would be a gorgeous option for attending a spring wedding or as a reception look option.

I completely fell in love with this stunning form fitting gown with its crystal-embellished bow t strap creating drama in the back. A train like this certainly makes a huge impact! So elegant and timeless.

Above wearing a gorgeous tulle sequin halter gown with a peasant skirt. Perfect for an outdoor wedding!

Thank you White by Vera Wang and David’s Bridal for partnering with me on this post, I hope it gave you some great ideas if you or someone you love’s big day is around the corner! Happy Valentines everyone.

Three Valentine’s Movies and Menus For A Romantic Night In

Three Valentine’s Movies and Menus For A Romantic Night In

Much like New Years Eve, Valentine’s Day is one of those nights that can fall massively short of expectations when you decide to go out. Pre-fixed menus tend to be overpriced and often carelessly prepared, and who wants to spend their special day eating crummy expensive food in an crowded noisy restaurant? Not me. Jeff and I have made a tradition out of staying in and cooking for each other for the last few years. We love to go all out spoiling each other and spend many weeks anticipating the dinner. Jeff even prints out a beautiful menu for our Valentines each year. I love this tradition so much that I’ve become pretty obsessed with Valentines Day and I am SO excited to celebrate it this week.

We decided this year we wanted to do a movie theme for Valentine’s Day. I love designing menus for special occasions so I thought for this Valentine’s Day I would share with you three of our favorite Valentine’s movies and three menu pairing suggestions for each film. This is singles friendly suggestion by the way, delicious food and sexy movies are highly enjoyable with or without a significant other! Just invite a hungry friend.

Perfect Grey Coat

Perfect Grey Coat

I can never get enough grey outerwear in the winter. I’ve had this one old grey overcoat I’ve worn for years and while it isn’t quite on it’s last legs, it was time to start looking for a replacement. Whilst online shopping my eye landed on this Ganni coat and I knew it would be perfect. I love the wide cropped shape. It looks great with men’s trousers and boots but I also wore it over a mini dress this week and it was so cute.

Wearing Ganni grey coat, gauze grey scarf from Barneys, vintage Yves Saint Laurent pants, a thrifted cashmere men’s v neck sweater, boots I got at a flea market, and Lotuff’s working leather tote.

Winter Wardrobe Assessment

I’ve been inspired to do some closet purging after watching Marie Kondo’s Netflix show, but I’ve also been filling in some gaps in my wardrobe by picking up some closet basics. I picked up this super chic and classic Ganni grey coat and I know I’ll be able to wear it forever. I also found some wonderful cashmere oversized sweaters at the thrift store recently. It’s such a great feeling to go through your closet and find only things you truly love.

I had a lot of fun looking at sale shoes the last few weeks…I’ve picked out some of my favorites below! I am totally dying over these crazy Pucci boots.

Why I Love My Instant Pot and Some Tips to Get Started

Why I Love My Instant Pot and Some Tips to Get Started

If you follow me on Instastories, you may know that in the last year I purchased an instant pot and have become fairly fanatical about it’s life enhancing powers. When I embarked on my endo diet earlier this year, I purchased an 8 quart instant pot as a motivational leaping point to get me psyched up for this big diet change. It turned out to be everything I hoped and more, and I consider it a very empowering tool in the kitchen both as someone who loves to cook and as someone who has had to transition to a more restricted diet to manage my health problems.

Instant Pots aren’t really any kind of new technology. My grandma has been a champion of the stovetop pressure cooker for years. Instant Pot has cleverly repackaged the pressure cooker with a lot of really cool multifunctions for cooking, like steaming and making yogurt. How fancy! There are even built in functions just to make cake, soup, and hard or soft cooked eggs.

Is an Instant Pot for you? Let’s examine…here are some reasons you might want an Instant Pot.

90s RUNWAY VIBES

90s RUNWAY VIBES

I got a really amazing gift for Christmas from my mom, who really went to town on eBay for her shopping this year. She got this beautiful 80’s choker necklace at a great price and I can’t believe she found the generosity in her to gift it to me. Haha! I love all of the 80’s and 90’s byzantine necklaces on chains and ribbons that were spawned and inspired by Christian Lacroix, but they can be hard to find. I will treasure this necklace forever! Thank you Mom.

I’m wearing a vintage 80’s ski jacket by Bernard Perris with a cropped turtleneck, Moussy jeans, and Saint Laurent pumps.
