Happiness is a feeling on the surface, joy is something that radiates from within. Carol is someone who brings so much joy to my life and to the lives of everyone that knows her. Even since Carol was a child, people have remarked on the incredible sparkle in her eye and animation in her actions. She carries a light of joy within her that is infectious. Carol is the kind of friend you only come across once in a life time, I am so lucky to call her my sister. I loved capturing these images of her.

Over the weekend I met my mom for brunch to hammer out some last minute work. We accomplished what we set out to and naturally we celebrated with a round of mimosas. It wasn’t technically a work day after all. We then made the perilous decision to pull out our laptops and browse Barney’s Warehouse, you know, just to look.

After a few minutes of oohing and ahhing over these gorgeous Belstaff sandals, I whipped out my credit card.  They’re 70% off, they’re classic, they’re totally wearable…given the circumstances I think I got out with minimal damage. I anxiously await their arrival.

My mom ferreted out these fantastic Maiyet heels, which I was heartbroken to find out are not available in my size. Otherwise I would have been all over these. I mean that heel!! Are you a size 8 or a size 10.5? Please, get them.

The park is so beautiful this time of year, got distracted planning a picnic while we were here. It was a blustery fall day and I jumped on the opportunity to wrap myself up in a gorgeous mink coat I got at Salvation Army a few weeks ago. What a thrift score, I was so thrilled to find it. My Isabel Marant pants look like the new H&M ones (which I actually did get!) but they are actually a purchase I made last year. Always my go-to.

2013 has flown by!  It’s hard to believe that Christmas is next month! Can you believe it?  I can already taste Carol’s homemade cookies and picture Dallas all lit up at its shiny best.
I’ve been thinking about gifts for my favorite and dearest friends, family, and crazy quadrupeds (and maybe even gifts for those that have been a bit naughty–not to mention any dogs by name.)  I’ve teamed up with another great love of my life, Barneys New York, to share my top gift picks for all of my loved ones. Our family is a circle of strength and trust is the bond that holds us together. The best proof of love is trust. The greatest thing about my mom and my sister is that I know they will always have my back, and vice versa.
