Best Ever Flares Are Back In Stock

Fashion
Dec 16, 20205 Comments

I was doing some online browsing under the guise of Christmas shopping last week and noticed one of my all time favorite pairs of denim are getting another run. The Moussy Luna Straight Flare jeans have been a wardrobe staple of mine since I bought them and I still get questions about them when I wear them. I’m sounding the alarm for those folks: the jeans are back in stock!

I’ve talked in the past about my love of Japanese brand Moussy’s jeans. The washes are beautiful and the denim is durable, usually without any stretch at all. Some people like stretch in their denim, but I am not in this camp. The stretch in stretch denim gives out eventually  and they sag and no longer hold you in tightly. I have a pair of jeans from the 1940s that I wear all the time, and they’re not at all fragile or worn-out. Stiff denim holds you tightly and molds to the contours of your body with time and wear.

I went to the Moussy boutique in Soho two years ago and found my dream jeans: The Moussy Luna Straight Flare. The high-rise hugs my midsection comfortably and the slight flare in the leg looks great with about every kind of shoe I own. I’ve posted many looks wearing these jeans, below are a few example of me in my Moussy Luna flares. They’ve served me well since the day I bought them and work well with my daily uniform of sweatshirts and western boots. Here is a word to the wise: Japanese denim tends to be sized for a more petite market. I went one size up in these jeans, and I’m 5″6. My sister is 5″9 and goes up two sizes in Moussy.

Hi Jayne, and Merry Christmas! I am wondering where the fabulous gold zip jacket came from that you are wearing in Picture One of the new flare jeans on the front page of the blog! Do tell!

Hi Cynthia! The faux fur cardigan I’m wearing in the far left of the header image is a very strange 1960s creation I found on eBay. The fur is plush like a teddy bears and the gold-green trim is a tightly woven cord. It’s a weird piece but I love it! You might find some looking for faux fur cardigans on eBay or etsy.

Thanks Jayne! I will take a look. I used to sell for a few friends on EBay- Hermes scarves and other designer Ching Ching, but this past year I’ve barely even looked there.

I also just read your new Pandemic wardrobe post and it’s fantastic. Some great suggestions there.

        Cynthia
