Looking forward to the balmy weekend ahead of us. My spring shopping list is growing! Click on the items in collages for details.
THE MULE
These amazing mules by Paul Andrew are my shoe fixation right now. I find myself grabbing them every time I’m getting dressed. I’m so happy mules are happening again. The first shoe I ever really fell for was a pair of mules. They were my mom’s white ponyhair leopard print mules by Prada. I was in the third grade I think, and she used to pick me up from school wearing them. I remember wanting a pair so badly! This classic version goes with everything. A pretty black mule like this with cuffed skinnies is so simple and necessary.
Mules are a Moda Operandi exclusive by Paul Andrew available here. Worn with a leather tote bag by Lotuff, jeans by Citizens of Humanity, American Apparel tee, Stella McCartney blazer and Isabel Marant necklace.
TIBI IN CHARLESTON
Wearing a rafia patchwork skirt and camisole by Tibi.
I just got back from Charleston, South Carolina and I miss it already! It is a voyage I’ve always wanted to make. When I heard Tibi was having a party with Charleston boutique Hampden Clothing, I leapt at the chance to go. The party was held in the Charleston Library Society, and happened to be DJed by my friend John Zahl. I have admired John as a master of cosmic disco music for years. His lovely wife Deirdre designs Candy Shop Vintage and I was so glad to have a chance to visit them both in their hometown!
The food in Charleston was unbelievable. I will remember each and every meal I had for a very long time to come. Above was from a delicious lunch with Tibi and Hampden at Husk, a James Beard Award winning restaurant that uses all local ingredients. The pig ear lettuce wraps were to die for. I loved the catfish I had so much that I am determined to make some at home this week. We’ll see how that goes!
Heaven on a plate at the Ordinary.
A stunning patio at 82 Queens.
I’m plotting my return trip already. Any place where it’s acceptable to eat hushpuppies and oysters with every meal and drink bourbon cocktails all day long is a place I don’t want to be far from.
Apartment Balcony Inspiration
My balcony is long overdue for a makeover. For far too long it’s only occupants have been two broken down rubber covered French chairs. I love a project and I am so excited to tackle it in time to enjoy this beautiful spring weather! I purchased some new patio furniture and planted an herb garden and I’m already enjoying it so much. I spent some time gathering some inspiration to build on this morning. So many great ideas, I want to run to the nursery right now and start potting!
Tulips & Red Valentino
I may have mentioned this more than a few times, but I am a Red Valentino freak. I constantly look at Red Valentino on Yoox to see what has gone on sale. Found the skirt I’ve been dreaming of in my size! Perfect with my Miu Miu pastel spectator pumps from quite a few years back.
Worn with a trench I found in Seoul, a vintage argyle sweater, and Miu Miu pumps.
CHANEL IN MARFA
More photos of our wondrous trip to West Texas. If you go to West Texas, you need to stop in Marfa–it’s truly the final frontier. Even though Marfa gets a lot of hype in the press, it remains remarkably unscathed and secluded.
We drove to the outskirts of Marfa to see the Prada exhibit, and just hours later it was vandalized by an “artist.”
Wearing more of the beautiful SS/14 Chanel collection. This coat is incredible!
Evolution of a Home
A few months ago I did an overhaul on my living room. I fell in love with a 70s ikat sectional sofa and found the amazing mirrored cabinets and marble table at Salvation Army. The transformation really kind of happened in a matter of hours! This is more or less how it looks right now. I still want to move the acupuncture statue between my cabinets but she weighs a ton! I’m feeling inspired to spruce it up a bit lately. Below is a photo of my place pre-makeover as shot by Manny Rodriguez for Rue Magazine.
I sort of miss my place like this sometimes. Now my living room feels much more liveable with the new sofa. I do a lot of entertaining at my place and it’s been great for that. My mom and I share a brain when it comes to design and we love taking on projects together, I think we are going thrift store scavenging to see what we can find that inspires us this week! I must share the insane bronze cherub table she found when we went to Salvation Army last week. What a piece!
Over the top? In the best way possible! I can’t wait to see it in her place.
This is my mom’s living room right now, she has been playing around with it lately. She told me that she wants to give me those insane red chairs. An offer I would gladly take her up on! Maybe they’ll be just what my living room needs.
ESSENTIAL LINEN
I’m loving laid back linen pieces like this top and dress from Three Dots for spring. This black dress is going to be on repeat for me this summer. The silhouette is so timeless. I can easily picture this on Jackie O in the past or Kate Moss sporting this presently! Love how my sister styled this pintucked linen top, I’m always amazed at her ability to throw together things so effortlessly.
