A favorite: Comme Des Garcons S/S 07

A favorite: Comme Des Garcons S/S 07

The jacket I’m wearing is from this collection, Mom spied it marked down during a big sale at a Neiman’s outlet a few weeks ago. I’m so happy to have a piece of this collection, it’s one of my favorite CDG collections of the 00’s…later I will take pictures of the jacket, it has a detached collar and gorgeous tulle lining. If I could have another piece of this collection I would love that vinyl plastic jacket! The skirt I’m wearing is a tulle crinoline I got at one of my favorite vintage stores in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Before I got this jacket I wore it with a grey denim biker jacket and my Sid and Nancy shirt to emulate this collection…which isn’t something I do often but this was a look I couldn’t resist…perfect combination of fragility and toughness…on a side note is so rare to see Rei Kawakubo allude to anything political in a collection, so the use of the japanese flag is very interesting.

Just sharing a few looks from a collection that is a huge point of inspiration for me! :)

Today’s findings…

Today’s findings…

As I had mentioned, my mom and I drove out to Dallas (about a 45 minute haul from where we live…) to scope out some of our favorite vintage stores. I had planned on checking out Pandemonium, a veryyy eclectic and junky vintage store but it was closed today…doesn’t matter, another one of our favorites was open! Dolly Python is a great vintage store that has a dizzying ammount of knick knacks and useless paraphernalia…you could spend hours contemplating the origins of these items…and come up with some pretty interesting background stories.

All of these were picturs taken around town today…pink house in the bottom left is a consignment store mom dropped off a sofa at. The rest of the pictures are taken at Dolly Python’s…you can see the two dogs who hang out around the store, they’re very cute. Makes me feel at home! (I have five dogs!)

I found this leather bound linked belt with a Texas shaped plate on it, with some stone in the middle…it was really dirty and I cleaned it up with polish, it could use another going over but I can see this with a loose pair of old jeans and a shrunken up vintage tee….

By the time mom and I had scoured the store we had picked up a few little creatures and various addendums that needed homes….aren’t the animals sweet and demented? I hope that these guys bring me good luck, I find that things like these usually do. There’s a fish and some stuff in that jar, how random.

HOWEVER our most epic and amazing purchase we made today (possibly ever??) was this painting of a forlorn and rejected leopard wearing a babushka scarf.

WHAT THE HELL
Is this supposed to capture the torment and anguish of being rejected by Barnum & Bailey’s? A poached lover? The world may never know the story behind the painting. Doesn’t matter, mom and I are still have sore abdomens from laughing at it’s sheer and utter absurdity…best 4 dollars ever spent on a piece of folk art. It’s going to be framed soon and made the center piece of our inspiration wall.

Those weren’t our only stops though, we also dropped by our Barney’s for a bit to check out the new shoe shipments….not too much new, nothing we were crazy about. However I am crazy about some of the Junya Watanabe dresses this season…the metallic trims and delicate floral prints are to die for. also, there were some new pieces of Dries that were very very very lovely with the intricate beading he did on the collars. So that was great to see.

Nothing special about my outfit today….earlier I was wearing my Marni wedges with black wax coated skinnies but I changed out…tonight I wore this though…even though it’s boring outfit I aways love wearing this Ralph Lauren jacket of my mom’s, it’s from the early eighties and is extremely well made, with vents like men’s coats and nice lining. It’s always been one of my favorite things to throw on. Today I wore it with Miss Sixty jeans, random hoodie, random grey shirt, socks and Marni heels.

today was fun, I love the new little collection of trinkets I’ve accumulated. It’s nice to provide a resting place for the unwanted and delapidated…they will be right at home with the other good luck talismans and small creatures I have!

Till next time,
Jane

I had to dress ‘casino’ themed last night to a friend’s party…I wasn’t exactly sure what that entailed (never seen the movie, card games bore me) but I took it as a green light to put on an ostentatious disco dress and my favorite shoes…

(vintage dress, various bangles, Margiela shoes)

It turned out to be perfect for the occasion, everyone else was wearing black and white dresses too. Mine was just a little more ‘disco slut’ than everyone elses. The dress was bought on eBay from Paris, it’s very nice quality but I don’t recognize the designer.  I haven’t worn it yet and was very excited to…for a teenage girl living (basically) in the middle of nowhere fashion-wise, it’s a rare oppurtunity that you get to wear a pretty dress without looking like an overdressed wierdo!

In other related news, Mom and I are heading out to town to check out our favorite vintage boutiques and see what new is in at our favorite stores…more updates maybe tonight? depends on homework situation…

Thanks Dirrty Glam!

Thanks Dirrty Glam!

I’m very honored to have been featured on French online fashion magazine Dirrty Glam this month. It’s exciting to have been picked up by such a cool online publication! Unfortunately I can’t speak French and I’m not very sure what all it says beside the interview, haha. Very honored anyway!

^Me on page 138, also a snapshot on 141 I think!
THANK YOU SO MUCH to reader Matt (<3theFrenchy on the Fashion Spot) to kindly taking these screen caps for me, you’re the best!

*Also, thanks to The Fashion Spot for featuring my article ‘Kinky Boots’ in their new relaunched website! The new TFS looks wonderful.

good night all,
jane

ILikeMyStyle.net

ILikeMyStyle.net

I found this site through StyleBubble earlier this week and now I’m hooked….it’s a very cool style-sharing website with some seriousely stylish people posting. It’s not your average ‘What Are You Wearing Today’…the outfits and pictures people are sharing are a little off-kilter…The members of I Like My Style have got their own thing going on, no ‘trendy’ looks here. This makes it one of my new favorite style inspiration sites!
I also like that the site is extremely user friendly: easy to register and it takes two seconds to upload your photos! Also, you can give information about the items your wearing and the cities and stores they were purchased in. The founders of the site are extremely nice and stay in contact with a lot of their members. If you like style-sharing sites I’d definitely reccomend this one, it’s accumulated some very cool members.

Here’s just a sample of some of the cool people you’ll find sharing their looks on I Like My Style;

Loved all of these looks but by far the most inspiring one I’ve seen has been from ILMS.net member Aabronson…

WOW! Check out their sunglasses, the cap, the jacket, the necklace, the shiny disco-bull hat…truly incredible level of originality. Check out their commentary on the items they are wearing (including Margiela jeans, Issey Miyake hat, and Bless cape)
This is one of the most inspiring things I’ve ever found on a style-site…I want to follow what these guys wear every day!!

Definitely worth checking out!
Go to I Like My Style.net!
and give me a shoutout if you’ve joined or are a member, I’d love to see what you guys are wearing!
