Navy Coat and White Brogues

Navy Coat and White Brogues

A look from a very cold day last week running errands. I am still obsessing over these Proenza Schouler brogues I got on sale! They are so much fun to style. I love them with colorful vintage dresses or with cuffed Levi’s. I also love them with a tailored look, they make a fun juxtaposition when you mix them in with really classic wardrobe staples.

Wearing Isabel Marant Etoile pants from last spring (similar here), white brogues by Proenza Schouler,  vintage navy coat (similar here), and Ralph Lauren Ricky bucket bag.

V-Day Treats

V-Day Treats

Happy early Valentine’s to me, Shopbop is having a good sale! I feel like I’ve exhausted my cold weather wardrobe options already this season, it definitely feels like a good time to indulge in a wardrobe pick-me-up. This fuzzy graphic red and white striped sweater from DVF could bring me some serious inspiration for styling! A great break from the cozy neutrals I tend to look for in sweaters.

Workout Gear

Workout Gear

I have really come around to the athleisure trend as of late. I spend a good portion of every day in my workout clothes and I recently have been wanting to upgrade to a sleeker look. Great workout clothes have always motivated me to work out and I have been coveting pieces like those from P.E. Nation lately. They mix really well with my favorite Adidas and Nike jackets. You guys know I shop for everything on eBay, and I’ve found it to be such a great resource for buying my activewear. The shipping is always super fast and there are such good deals to be had. Lots of awesome 90s Adidas gear too, which could make for some very fun styling! It was really fun to photograph my recent activewear acquisitions for this post. As much as I wear athleisure in real life, I realize I rarely share this side of my style on the blog. My husband plays basketball every day, we had fun shooting around this week when the weather was nice!

Below are some similar activewear picks I also found on eBay.

Ultra Violet

Ultra Violet

I’m not normally one for trend colors, but I can’t lie and say I wasn’t super excited when “ultra violet” was chosen as Pantone’s color of the year. I am a massive Prince fan after all. I picked up this purple turtleneck at Free People with this in mind and it has been a great piece for styling lately! I have worn it as I do here, layered under a blazer, or layered under a safari dress or slip dress. It’s really lightweight so there are a million ways you could wear this.

These Proenza Schouler white brogues are a brand new acquisition. I saw them on Kelly Wearstler’s instastories and had been coveting them for weeks. I finally found them on Farfetch marked down and I ordered them. I think I’m going to be wearing these nonstop for the foreseeable future! The stitching is so good.

Fuzzy Slippers

Fuzzy Slippers

These Chloe fuzzy sandals are a recent sale purchase and I am so in love with them. I needed a new casual shoe and these are fun to wear with pretty much anything. I especially love them with a cozy sweater and cuffed denim for day-off look. These jeans are by Chimala, a Japanese denim brand that is sort of hard to find online. Madewell has some of their jeans! I bought mine at TenOverSix here in Dallas, they always have a great selection of Chimala.

P.S. these shoes are mostly sold out but Urban Outfitters has a very cute version of them I found today!

Wearing a sweater I honestly can’t remember where I got, Lotuff leather working tote, Chimala jeans, Chloe shearling sandals, and vintage earrings.

I am experiencing a little bit of wardrobe fatigue at the moment. I am so ready to be able to ditch my winter coats and just leave the house in a cozy sweater! It looks like it is going to be a nice week ahead and I’m spending today styling some outfits to shoot. Here are some of the looks I am workshopping in my head! I’m in a denim phase right now. I found a lot of my favorite old jeans in my garage recently. I have been thinking about investing in a pair of brown Gucci loafers…they are everywhere, but the classic ones are my favorite and pair so nicely with faded Levi’s!

How to Maintain Red Hair

How to Maintain Red Hair

I recently asked my readers what kinds of posts they’d like to see on Sea of Shoes and I was struck by how many people wanted advice on maintaining red hair. I know first hand how frustrating this can be when you go red. Now that I am back to being a redhead after a little break, I am reminded what a high maintenance color it is to keep. I will now divulge everything I’ve learned about maintaining red hair in my years of experience as a redhead!

Finding the Perfect Chunky Turtleneck

Finding the Perfect Chunky Turtleneck

I posted this look on Instagram this week an was inundated with questions and DMs about my cable knit turtleneck. That makes me so happy because this sweater is probably the one item I’ve posted more frequently than anything else I own. The sweater is from a market in San Miguel de Allende in Mexico and I have had it for probably six years now. It looks good with everything and when I wear it I am reminded of some of my favorite shoots we’ve created for this blog. Obviously, I can’t tell you where to get this exact sweater. I think a lot of people would actually find it quite itchy if they wore, it is 100% alpaca wool.

Since so many people asked where to find something similar, below is a round-up of some sweaters available now. It is definitely worth investing in but there are great under $100 options below as you will see. You will get endless wardrobe play out of a good chunky turtleneck. I think Everlane turtleneck is perfect! Also, this one is one sale for $119 and has a really chic funnel neck.
