PATCHED UP LEVI’S

Outfits

Like the surprise footwear change in this post? I couldn’t decide to go pumps or sandals. In the end my laziness won out and I went with sandals. These amazing vintage patched Levi’s are from Urban Outfitter’s hand picked vintage selection, I pounced on them the minute I saw them. Now I’ve got a patchy pants obsession and kind of want this pair of boyfriend jeans from Madewell to expand my options.

Slightly different riff on a “day to night” idea…I use this C.P. Shades dress as a nightgown pretty often so it is more of a “night to day” look. Yes, I am lazy. I love this dress, I’d wear it any time of day! My ponyhair sandals are by Senso-on sale now!

SUMMER SWEDISH HASBEENS

Yard Trench

I’m very much into my Swedish Hasbeens for summer! I love them with cut-offs  or white skinnies like I’m wearing here. They’re timeless to me, a nice break from trendy shoes. I put them on randomly to walk my dogs the other day and just kind of kept wearing them all week long. Here I’m wearing a trench coat borrowed from my mom (she found it in Seoul) with an Omega Seamaster watch and 7 For All Mankind skinny jeans.

BAR CARTS: the entertaing essential

Barcarts.jpg

I’ve been wanting a bar cart for a while now, but this weekend I realized I needed one sooner rather than later. After throwing a sizeable cocktail party, for which I used a loaner bar cart, I realized how functional and elegant they are. My dad has a beautiful leather lacquered 1930s bar cart that my mom and I found for him at a junk store a while back.  He was very kind to let us borrow it for the party, and it looked terrific (you can see it on Instagram here). It makes entertaining so much easier when guests can serve themselves and you’re not bogged down on cocktail duty. They look gorgeous when you pile pretty bottles and tray on them!

Bar

Bar_Cart

I was out picking up my dry cleaning today and I popped into a nearby consignment store on a whim (Dulce Consignment here in Dallas). When I saw they had just recieved four beautiful bar carts I flipped out. Then I saw how cheap they were and I really flipped out. I snatched one up for me and another for my boyfriend. We had been looking for a bar cart for his place before we threw our party but they were all either too expensive or not right. I guess you have to let your bar cart find you.

Flowers

Full disclosure, I do kind of already have a bar cart in my kitchen. But it is a massive industrial metal cart, not a dainty roll-around hostessy kind. More full disclosure: my actual liquor cabinet would never even begin to fit on one of these tiny carts. But for entertaining purposes this is classier.

Livingroom

Every time I go to a thrift store, the first thing I look for is serveware. I have so many silver and brass platters and dishes for when I entertain now! You can never have too many crystal dishes or silver trays. Perfect on top of a bar cart.

Entertaining

JR

I really like my black bar cart in my living room, I think I’ll keep it there. God knows I’ll put it to use. If you don’t have a bar cart, trust me, you need one! I picked out some favorites below.

A crisp oxford shirt is one of my favorite basics! I must have at least five. I always scan the sale racks for them in the mens section. Hope my American readers enjoyed a leisurely Memorial Day weekend!

Worn with Stella McCartney blazer, Mother ‘the Looker’ skinny jeans, a vintage belt,  and my Paul Andrew mules.

Try as I might to branch out from my usual style, I know the things I’ll keep reaching for again and again. The usual suspects, like the white tank and perfect trench. I like to stick to the classics and switch it up with small details. Like the classic Fendi bracelet watch above. For some reason when I saw it today, it stood out to me as the best thing I’ve seen in a while. I didn’t even know I was a ‘bracelet watch’ kind of girl. Hmm.

BLACK OUT

Black

I know it’s spring, the time to take advantage of  a narrow window of opportunity to wear dainty sundresses with cashmere cardigans draped over my shoulders. That feels a little too obvious though. I feel inconspicuous in all black. Wearing a thrifted silk deep v blouse with J Brand coated skinnies and the Paul Andrew mules I can’t seem to stop wearing.

These vampy kitten heels by Paul Andrew make me feel like a supervillain. I love the batwing like detail. I’m so into them right now! Could wear these every day of the week. Side note, I can’t believe I can wear a turtleneck in the middle of May in Texas. We have had absolutely insane weather lately-flooding, tornado alarms, torrential rainfall, crazy cold fronts. You never know what’s going to hit you next.

Wearing a cableknit turtleneck sweater with Golden Goose jeans, River Island leopard clutch, and Paul Andrew pumps exclusive to Moda Operandi.
