I have been in the mood for some softer looks lately. When I was in Tokyo for our honeymoon I saw some women wearing really cool deconstructed Victorian inspired looks in Harajuku and I’ve been thinking about them ever since. Lace and bows are very fun to wear but a little can go a long way. No one wants to end up looking too prissy! I chose to pair this pinstriped lace-trim blouse with a pair of wide leg 80s menswear inspired pants to make the look more modern.
I know I am going to get a lot of questions about these shoes, I always do when I post them. They are Christian Dior ‘Conquest’ pumps from last year and I think that they are still available for purchase from their boutiques (last I had heard). But there are a few new pairs on theRealReal for less, if you are lucky enough to find your size!
Love love love this look! It’s elegant, modern & fun! Tokyo really is on my list of places to visit, hopefully I get there.

Dear Jane,
I never reply, but I wanted to say that I enjoy your posts so much! It is like art and they look like you put so much love and effort into them! And the photography is stunning as well. Thank you for the continuing inspiration.
Best regards,
Jolanda

There’s just something about this time of year that triggers it for me.
I love this feminine look and leave it to the stylish Japanese ladies to inspire it. The shoes are fabulous and I love the way the colors has a bit of pop and really makes the outfit. You always look stunning and this is darling.
That’s really interesting that you mention Victorian looks from Harajuku – that place used to be the epicenter of (Gothic)Lolita Fashion, but I think a lot of the teen girls who used to wear that stuff in the late 90’s and early 2000’s have settled into a more demure and casual interpretation – I’d love to see what some of these women are wearing now, having been a Lolita enthusiast myself only a handful of years ago!
Your looks are always so inspiring and fun, but your makeup game has been super on point lately! Are you using false lashes – they look amazing!!
You are very sweet, thank you! I’m having a lot of fun with false lashes right now. :)
Such a beautiful look! x
