Styling With KC in NYC

Styling With KC in NYC

Back in December I visited New York to style some of Kenneth Cole’s new spring shoes for the upcoming season. We braved the cold to shoot open-toe shoes and spring outfits and somehow still managed to have an amazing time. I’ve been really looking forward to sharing our shots with you and now I finally can!

These grey mules from the spring collection had me really excited. I have always been a staunch advocate of mules and clogs and I am so glad they are trending so strongly this spring. The pale grey color is everything, it’s the kind of color that elevates your whole look. Worn with a great metallic crossbody puse.

These backless booties are super tomboyish. We took the look all the way tomboy with a preppy blazer and flannel. Shoes available here.

These heels were a major favorite, that pale leopard and dove grey combination is killing me! I wore these with some of my own well-loved vintage favorites (including my favorite oversized 501’s and a nubby sweater). The delicate color scheme and feminine silhouette of these stilettos makes them and essential for me.

I hope you enjoyed some of the looks we shot for the spring collection, there will be more to come soon. Check out the new shoe styles here now!

COMING UP SHORT: the cropped flare

COMING UP SHORT: the cropped flare

70s Flare blue

I was never a big flared jeans kinda girl, not even when they were all anyone wore in middle school. A cropped flare however is a nod to Francois Hardy in the best way possible. I was very happy to find this pair of 70s flares that are just a smidge too short for me. I’m glad to add them to my rotation of skinny jeans and boyfriend jeans!

Wearing vintage cropped flares (similar here), a chambray shirt, the Tripp bag by Lotuff, and Emerson Fry heels.

I have a major thing for New Balance sneakers and these grey trainers are my favorite right now. I’ve been wearing them nonstop with cropped flares, white skinnies, you name it. These grey sneakers are part of collection created just for Bergdorfs, featuring iconic New Balance classics reimagined in super sophisticated ways. I’m going to go ahead and say that these are my ultimate normcore shoes. I love them!

Tomorrow Bergdorfs will be a hosting a launch party for the collection, come by the 5th avenue store from 3-5pm in the shoe salon to try on the collection! I know I will be trying on a few more pairs ;) See you there and happy fashion week!

FAIRYTALE STORY

FAIRYTALE STORY

Chloe__

When Chloe asked me to create a story inspired by their new Love Story fragrance, my mind immediately began spinning visions of a fantastical fairytale. The delicate scent and the adorable padlock and key the fragrance comes with inspired a tale of a modern Alice in Wonderland for me. The fragrance seemed a part of a Mad Hatter’s tea party. Surrounded by a menagerie of brass woodland creatures and sweets, the story of the fragrance began to come to life.

HOW TO PREPARE A VALENTINE’S DINNER

HOW TO PREPARE A VALENTINE’S DINNER

ValentinesDinner

Are you planning your Valentines day yet? Me too! Valentines is one of my favorite holidays and I have been so excited to share this post with you. Jeff and I teamed up with Pandora to give you some ideas on how to spoil your Valentine this February 14 with some beautiful gifts and a decadent dinner menu! As someone who loves to cook, food has always been the way to my heart. There is nothing more romantic to me than spending the day cooking up a bountiful feast with my favorite person. The challenge of making a restaurant-worthy dinner can seem daunting, but it doesn’t have to be! We pulled this off in no time flat, with delicious results.

Flatbread

Jeff made this lovely parmesan basil flatbread before we got started. It came together in minutes and made for a very impressive charcuterie presentation!

Charcuterie

All the charcuterie essentials: some fromage triple-creme with some blue cheese, prosciutto, olives, cornichons, and peppercorn mousse!

cheese

And an adorable ring from Pandora’s Valentine’s collection!

Cooking

Jeff made the main course: Dolin Blanc pan-seared scallops with garlic bok choy. Yum!! He always does the best scallops.

Vday

This was the right time to enjoy a cocktail! Wearing a heart pendant necklace with an ASOS shirt and vintage jeans.

Dinner

Chocolate

For an elegant and surprisingly easy dessert, I made an Italian flourless chocolate cake topped with mascarpone whipped cream. This was ridiculously fast and the texture was wonderfully mousse-like. Bonus, this dessert is a good option if your Valentine is gluten-free!

Love

Serving dessert and wearing Pandora’s love charm bracelet. I haven’t taken this off yet, I love how delicate this bracelet is.

To get the recipes for our Valentine’s dinner, head over to our food blog Thyme and Temp! You’ll find everything you need there. Happy Valentines everyone!

Romantic Dressing

Romantic dressing seaofshoes.com valentinesRomantic dressing seaofshoes.comRomantic dressing seaofshoes.comI have a penchant for 40s and 50s novelty sweaters and vintage skirts. I love dressing in washes of pastels for a romantic color pallete. I think I may have to repeat this outfit on Valentines day! I am wearing some very sweet Valentines jewelry from Pandora, I love how dainty and sentimental these pieces are. The jewelry pieces I styled are the Forever In My Heart Charm with the Oxidized Silver Necklace and the Signature of Love bracelet. Perfect finishing details for this outfit!

Wearing vintage 40s sweater and vintage 50s skirt with my beloved Oscar de la Renta pumps.

Wearing a 40s fox fur cape with a bone choker, thrifted blouse, Stella McCartney jeans, Chloe boots, and 90s Miu Miu bag.

This was an outfit I threw on for some meetings on Friday. This cape adds a lot of drama! I found it at JLINSNIDER’s vintage section when I was in Charleston this past November. The soft grey color was so irresistible, I am glad I bought it! Hope you are having a relaxing weekend and have some nice sunshine wherever you are. I just made pancakes and now we’re having coffee in bed with the dogs, a perfect kind of morning!

HAIR ROUTINE

HAIR ROUTINE

cropped

I’ve been very into low-maintenance beauty lately. A little dry shampoo, a few loose curls from a large barrel curling iron, and I’m ready to scrunch and go. Sadly, my hair usually has other plans. Left to its own devices, my fine hair snags and knots up in a terrible way. It usually takes me 10 minutes to detangle my hair in the morning and it pulls so much of my hair out!

PM4

It’s been easy being low-maintenance since I started using the Paul Mitchell Ultimate Color Repair collection.  Not only has my hair been extremely healthy, but the red color specially formulated for me by Paul Mitchell Editorial Director, Lucie Doughty has lasted and I love it!

I’ve noticed since I started using the Paul Mitchell Ultimate Color Repair Conditioner  and Triple Rescue heat protection spray that my hair is much easier to tame and my ends stay smooth all day, even after spending a whole day outside in the wind. The team at Paul Mitchell also turned me on to their Awapuhi Wild Ginger Texturizing Sea Spraywhich has become one of my favorite styling quick-fixes to give my hair some extra oomph before I get out the door!

PINKTOPPER

IMG_4888

While out running errands the other day, I wore my usual bedhead hairstyle plus a sixties hot pink topper coat. I’ve been wanting to wear this amazing coat with oversized vintage jeans, a ballerina leotard, and a pair of chunky heels, it is an outfit I’ve had in my mind for a while!
Vintage coat and jeans worn with a Ferragamo handbag and Emerson Fry pumps.

This post is a sponsored conversation with Paul Mitchell. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own!
