IN AUSTIN

IN AUSTIN

Hello from Austin! We are here for a few SXSW related festivities and visiting friends. After a bumpy start (including getting rear-ended twice in one day), we are ready to relax and explore. I actually bought this vintage blouse in Austin last year from Protoype Vintage. Can’t wait to go visit my friends at Garment Modern today! Masha always has the best eye.

Wearing a vintage off-shoulder blouse (similar here) with Citizens of Humanity high-waisted black jeans and Celine criss-cross platform sandals from Yoox. Bag is the Lotuff sling tote.

I bought this beautiful skirt online and it arrived with a note from the seller saying that it’s original owner had a climate-controlled vault built in her home to store her clothes. This skirt is around 60 years old and is in brand new condition! I love finding items with stories like that. Now if only I could have a vault to store my clothes in…!It’s unusual find a skirt like this in silk. You can’t see very well but it has rhinestones and studs throughout the print. I have so many petticoats to wear under my 50s skirts, but I think a big square-dancing crinoline lends the most drama!

Wearing a suede tank top by Veda (sold out, similar in a tan color here!) with a vintage skirt (very similar design available here)
Shoes are Saint Laurent from a year or two ago.

I have special memories of Bulgari’s B.zero1 designs …they remind me of my magical trip to Rome last summer. We spent a few days on a whirlwind tour, shooting a video for the B.zero1 collection. It was wonderful seeing the Eternal City in a new light.

On this new journey Bulgari introduced me to the new styles in the iconic B.zero1 collection. Created by mistake, when the original B.zero1 was introduced, these styles have remained have remained a secret until now. These pieces speak to my favorite kind of design. The mixed metals (each ring is finished with pink, yellow, and white gold) and clean defined lines strike the perfect balance and modernity. I love how the jewelry gleams against an all black velvet look I wore earlier this week! The jewelry was a perfect timeless finish paired with a few special pieces in my wardrobe I’ve loved for years.

Wearing an 80s Norma Kamali velvet fishtail skirt with a velvet off shoulder top and Dries van Noten strappy sandals.

Thank you Bulgari for taking me on another wonderful journey with the introduction of these beautiful new B.zero1 pieces!

The jewelry I’m wearing: B.zero1 pink gold bangle with pave diamonds, B.zero1 yellow gold bangle, B.zero1 four-band ring, B.zero1 pendant necklace

80’S CHLOE

80’S CHLOE

This 80’s Chloe dress is a very special piece I picked up from Dolly Python recently. I love, love that it is a camp shirt in a dress length! The print is just to die for.

Worn with a Salvatore Ferragamo bag, thrifted earrings, and Balenciaga shoes.

In the spirit of 80s Chloe…I feel I must end this post with this wonderful photo of Karl!

I love the mix of a short hemline with tall boots. These Stuart Weitzman flat over-the-knee boots are perfect for this look! The skirt is a cheap thrill from H&M.

MARCH HAPPENINGS

As spring sweeps in and winter blows out, I find myself reaching for unlikely outfit combinations like these. It’s not very often that the weather allows for a cozy cable knit sweater with a gauzy vintage slip dress and buttery leather sandals. (These beautiful sandals are by Frye).

I’m so excited that warmer weather is here and I have so many things to look forward to! Road trips, bringing my camera outside, and music festivals specifically. I’m very much looking forward to South by Southwest in Austin this year. If you are also in town for SXSW, don’t miss Frye’s big two day party with Noisetrade on March 16th and 17th, 11:306pm. There will be great music and I would love to see you there! You can RSVP here for you and your friends.

Wearing a vintage slip dress with a Max Azria sweater, and sandals not-yet-available from Frye. You can shop Frye sandals here, but if you want to preorder this sandal (which isn’t available online yet!), you can email customerservice@thefryecompany.com with ‘I WANT RACHEL HARNESS’ in the subject line.

PERFECT CULOTTES

PERFECT CULOTTES

DSC_8034blog1 DSC_7935   DSC_80951

The sun has come out this week finally! It’s been so sad being cooped up at my desk while it rained. I got these 70s culottes last year from Moss in Austin and am now finally wearing them for the first time. Love the sailor front pockets!

Wearing vintage culottes (similar here), a Salvatore Ferragamo tote, Chloe mules from 10 years ago (similar by Gucci here), and a striped crop top from Urban Outfitters.
