FOLKLORIC

Fashion
Dec 1, 2010

I know…I look like an escapee from Shelley Duvall's Fairy Tale Theatre. I can't help loving this 70's hippie dress. There's enough fabric in it to make 10 dresses and when its lying flat the sleeves are almost as long as the dress. It came from Arcive Vintage. Worn with I Love Colors tights and Peter Som x Charlotte Olympia lace-up boots, 70's butterfly necklace and porcelain elephant necklace.

ZEBRAS & ALLIGATORS

Fashion
Nov 28, 2010

I love this vintage Zebra shoulder pin–I think he will always live on this 80's Norma Kamalli coat because he looks so good on it. The alligator belt I'm wearing is vintage Margarita Barrera. The scarf I tied into a turban I got in Tokyo several years ago. The sunglasses are Ralph Lauren, and the hot pink patent booties are Prada spring 2006.

I can be kind of obtuse when it comes to buying 'basic' things like shirts, socks, and general slinky underthings….probably because I'm so hung up on vintage and buying new clothes can be kind of weird. Unfortunately this leads to the 'I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR' syndrome a lot..particularly when I travel.I have found the perfect solution in the clothes Herff Christiansen sent me-I stick these knit dresses under everything! Perfect  underneath the vintage Norma Kamali trench coat.

My Room in Rue Magazine

Fashion
Nov 26, 2010

Here is my room was recently shot by the talented Manny Rodriguez for Rue Magazine. Thank you to Rue for the feature and to Manny for these beautiful photos!

StyleSwoon and Atlantis Home are the masterminds behind my bedroom makeover…it used to be extremely bare, but while I was in Florence for Luisaviaroma's event earlier this year, they surprised me with a complete overhaul. I could not recognize the room. Best surprise of my life ever :) My room is such a happy place for me now/

Go to page 110 of Rue Magazine to see the rest of the house! I love Manny's shots in my mom's bedroom.

FUSCHIA FLORA

Fashion
Nov 23, 2010

I like the look of an 80's silk tunic thrown over something more casual. This tunic is by Flora Kung. What a beautiful color!

The leather flared pants are by the Row. Vintage jewelry and Christopher Ross bunny belt and Balenciaga sandals.

Again I aplogize for the BIG delay on the art contest–the art gallery is what's slowing me down…It's really time consuming to get all of the entries with the corresponding information in there! Real life has taken some very unexpected turns as of late. I'm about 75% done but hopefully over the next few days it all be complete. There has been a lot of back and forth with some of the kind & paitient people who entered due to tech issues…thanks guys! I just can't believe these entries–so amazing. I'm really looking forward to posting some of my favorites!

More San Miguel

Fashion
Nov 21, 2010

I still have so many pictures of San Miguel de Allende I want to post.

(I am a little sad that I didn't get to go to Guanajuato while I was there. To me, Guanajuato might be even more beautiful. Hope I can get back soon.)

This parrot was so cheeky…he lives in the garden of the retirement home wedged in between the streets of San Miguel's sprawling mercado. The more he made us laugh, the more he wanted to talk.

The ultimate Mexican mongrel…poor baby. She was rescued by a  Mexican couple..the sores are from tumors removed from her chest. She was so friendly.

Ronnie in the Bellas Artes art school.

Yummy sugar cane.

I went to NYC for the launch of Boutiques.com, Google's new personalized online shopping website. I was so excited to be included in this! Very cool to see my picture on Mashable.com frontpage.

The party was so much fun and it was so great to see some fellow bloggers!! I had a very hard time packing my Ivan Grundahl skirt that I wore into a carry on.

I'm having fun playing around with my boutique right now.

Go give it a try!

I am sponsoring a look for the H&M x Lanvin charity auction for UNICEF. The auction site is live now and will be up for a week longer–go bid now! All proceeds benefit UNICEF.

Back from San Miguel!

Fashion
Nov 17, 2010

The last four days I've been in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. It is absolutely one of my favorite places in the world…for six years I spent every summer there, but I hadn't been back in two years. The city looks more beautiful than ever….and as usual, it was full of colorful celebrations and people. My Spanish was a little rusty, but my boyfriend is teaching me.  I can't wait to share more pictures!! For now I've got to pack for a few events in NYC so I'll be sharing more soon.

70’s Teal Traina Dress

Fashion
Nov 11, 2010

What a great dress. I love Teal Traina…Geoffrey Beene designed for Teal Traina for a few years before he started his own brand. This dress was perfect for the unseasonably warm weather we had yesterday.

Worn with a vintage headscarf, Margiela nude sandal boots, Burberry bag, vintage necklaces, and sunglasses that StyleSwoon left at my house! ;)
