BLUE PATCH

Fashion
Oct 2, 2011

Wearing one of my favorite things in my closet. Well, it is my mom's jacket but it's been living in mine for the past few weeks. The denim patchwork jacket is Ralph Lauren from spring 2006. It's just incredible! It was inspired by Japanese boro textiles. It was probably our best outlet find ever. Worn with pants from Anthropologie, a 70's Victorian style blouse, and a vest I borrowed from my sister's closet.

ZOOM!

I want to zoom around in next spring's Prada rocket shoes!
I love the idea of turning into a speedy car. Look below at Thierry Mugler's cadillac bustier from 1989. He is the best. What an artist!

THE STUDIO

Fashion
Sep 30, 2011

The upstairs studio had a revamp recently. It had become so crowded with junk. Now it's such a bright and cheerful place to work! My mom masterminded the new seating area. It's wonderful for reading and sketching. We've even started having our meals upstairs!

On this tray is an assortment of Monet knick-knacks given to me by my friend Natalie. I love them!

The newest addition to my Hanna Bernhard collection is this adorable mouse. He is living on the table for all to see!

A collection of my favorite scents (mostly Serge Lutens and Six Scents) along with my favorite Elizabeth & James sunglasses.

Funny how my zebra Alaia boots look against the cowhide rug!

I know last week I didn't post much–I apologize, I was very busy and then had a brief trip to NYC. It feels so good to be home, especially in the cozy new studio. I think once things wrap up today I'm just going to play some Glass Candy and draw all night.

SIX SCENTS

Fashion
Sep 29, 2011

I have been a huge Six Scents fan ever since I tried their fragrances three years ago. Every year Six Scents releases a line of fragrances in collaboration with six artists and the proceeds benefit a wonderful cause. Six Scent's third series is supporting War Child International and was created by an amazing cast of designers and artists, including Henry Holland, Mary Katrantzou, and Rad Hourani.

My dear friend Rocky happens to work in marketing at Six Scents, and I've been bugging him to let me sample this years series so I could tell my readers about the fragrances in my own words. He was very sweet to oblige me and after a huge testing session, I can tell you about my favorites! The scents I liked the most evoked a sense of secrecy and fluidity and inspired the above photographs.

I am completely enamoured of the sixth scent in the series, 'M.' by Ohne Titel & perfumer Yann Vasnier. It is warm and familiar like your favorite suede jacket. It's extremely dense and masculine, but it is certainly something you would find yourself wanting to wear every day. I know I do!
My second favorite  is Can't Smell Fear by Juun. J and Natalie Gracia-Cetto.  It's very dark and sexy, and yes, like almost all scents I wear, very leathery.

I really hope you get to experience some of Six Scents yourself, here is a list of retailers that carry their products.

Yeohlee for CFDA & Vogue Eyewear

Vogue11

I'm very excited to share the sunglasses that Yeohlee designed for the CFDA & Vogue Eyewear City Collection, inspired by Los Angeles! Yeohlee is truly an inspiring spirit, it was very special to get the chance to spend some time talking to her. We did get to laugh a lot at some of the crazy antics that went into filming this video. The best part was seeing the Schindler house. I love the sunglasses she designed, they will be available starting September 29th at Sunglass Hut.

Upcycled Leather by Olga Road

Fashion
Sep 19, 2011

I feel so lucky to have a piece of Olga Road. The upcycling process that goes into each one of these jackets is fascinating, and makes every jacket one-of-a-kind.  My mom and I were so excited when they offered us each a jacket, and we're so glad the weather is finally cooling down so we can actually wear them! I'd like to thank Olga Road for the wonderful gift, I'm very happy to be able to share such a cool product on my blog. All of Olga Road's leather jackets are $168 and are available on their website.

I am wearing the Waldron in a size 36. It's the perfect classic bomber jacket. My mom got the Blakely jacket. I think we're going to end up sharing them!

Worn with Stella McCartney jeans, a Brooks Brothers polo, J. Crew belt, and Givenchy pumps.

Here is my mom's Blakely jacket!

NYFW Shoes

Fashion
Sep 17, 2011

I know we're only one week in, but if New York's fashion week was anything to go by, I have a feeling it is going to be a good season for shoe lovers. Here are some of my favorite shoes from last week!

I have fallen hard for the playful translucent spectator heels at Oscar de la Renta–they're so sexy. I can't decide if I'd choose the pink or the black if it ever came down to it.

These Marc Jacobs are the most amazingly perfect vampy fetish shoe shoe I've ever seen in my whole life. The curvy tapered heel, the placement of the mary-jane strap in relation to the toe box, the little button…sigh. It's too  hot to handle. Have to get my hands on these beauties.

Charlotte Olympia did some amazing shoes for Peter Som last season and this season did not disappoint! I love the serious clunky shape juxtaposed with the cotton candy colors. What a pretty hint of purple on the pinky.

The strange swooping shape of the insole on the shoes at Phillip Lim really does it for me. It gives this shoe that kind of futuristic hoof-like shape that I love. I love all of the texture going on too.

Obviously the amazing preppy sock garters at Thom Browne contribute a lot to the appeal of these shoes. So cool. The high heeled oxford on the left is done so perfectly though, it's a concept that can go so wrong but the shape and detail on it is just perfect!

Here are some other notables…can't wait for next week!

FEED YOUR HEAD

Fashion
Sep 15, 2011

My mom made this jacket out of recycled t-shirts about five years ago. She was inspired to get it out to reference for a DIY project she's doing and I took over it! It's so cool. I'm actually wearing it inside out. One the back of the jacket it says "Feed Your Head" and on one of the sleeves it's got this image of stacked up dogs in front of an explosion.

I'm wearing it with my Black Milk anime swimsuit, vintage python skirt given to me by the girls at Fruition, a baseball hat I won at a movie showing of Thor (I colored over the Acura logo with sharpie) and Prada pumps from last fall.
