Dita Vont Teese's Shoes

Dita Von Teese is a personal hero of mine…I admire her for designing every aspect of her lifestyle down to the very last detail…that level of commitment isn't just style, that's a statement. I love her closing quote on mediocrity. These are some images of Dita Von Teese's home in Hollywood that I scanned from the book Ellements of Style. Hope you enjoy, sorry the quality of the scans isn't better!

BUNDLED UP

Fashion
Nov 4, 2011

I am trying to soak up this gorgeous autumn while I can. Autumn sunlight is so nice. I am not looking forward to daylight savings time…what a shame, cheating us out of all this beautiful light!

I have been re-watching Mad Men and Betty Draper has inspired me to wear gloves more often. I got these beautiful vintage suede ones from Vintage Martini. I'll be on the hunt for some short white ones like Betty wears.

Wearing a vintage sweater from Laced with Romance vintage, a big wool  indigo blanket scarf by MIH  I borrowed from my mom, skinny cargo pants c/o Ralph Lauren's new Denim and Supply line, and Moma boots.

PUMPKIN BUTTER & BISCUITS

Fashion

What could be better on a brisk fall morning?? The whole wheat biscuits are so good and take no time at all to whip up. Definitely one of our most frequently used recipes. They have the density of a scone. I had never tried pumpkin butter before but now I'm addicted. It's a perfect accompaniment to a good cup of strong tea. Taylors of Harrogate Yorkshire Gold tea is my favorite tea ever.

The Fantastic Mr. Fox

Fashion

Happy Halloween! The best holiday of the year!
I ordered this felted fox hat from VaivaNat, a hat designer from Lithuania for my Fantastic Mr. Fox costume several weeks ago…I have been so excited to wear it!
I'm wearing a vintage tweed jacket, a brown silk blouse, and curry colored cropped pants from Elizabeth and James, and my mom's old 80s Salvatore Ferragamo wingtip brogues.

New Favorite Jeans

Fashion
Oct 29, 2011

I'm a sucker for red plaid, and I'm a huge fan of Current/Elliot jeans. I ordered these as soon as they popped up on Net-a-Porter. It's the same fit as the leopard Stiletto jeans that are so cute. They're cut super skinny and are a flattering ankle skimming length, which makes them perfect for showing off shoes…that's important!

I have the tan leopard version of this jean…here is my mom wearing the grey Stiletto leopard jean! I love how her Chloe booties match them perfectly.

Worn with patent riding boots, the jeans transition from punky to…Paddington Bear-ish?? Well, I like them both ways! It's so satisfying to find the perfect pair of jeans…even if they are a little unconvential.

Boot shopping for fall

Boot shopping for fall

This nippy weather has me craving boots. It's gotten down to 40 degrees here in Texas…quite a shock to the system after this summer! I'm really into color blocked boots  and bi-colored shoes lately, with attractive contrasting straps or cute patent cap toes. Here are some really cute ones that I like. Imaginary shopping is one of my favorite past times…

From left to right, top to bottom.

1. Vivienne Westwood Skyscraper Ankle Boots $405
2. Charlotte Olympia Myrtle Calfhair Ankle Boots $995

3. Miu Miu Two Tone Ankle Boots $750
4. Martin Margiela Split Tone nude Ankle Boot $965

5. Christian Louboutin Strappy Suede Ankle Boots $1,047
6. Dolce & Gabbana Plaid and Leather Lace Up Boots $1,045

A girl can never have enough well-done classic boots…I love rich mahogany ones with nice harness detailing.

Nononsense

From left to right, top to bottom

1. Matisse Brown Riding Boot $177
2. Ralph Lauren Harness Ankle Boot $695

3. Costume Nationale Lace Up High Heel Ankle Boot $880
4. Ralph Lauren Cognac Mid-Calf Riding Boot $850
5. Lautre Chose Over-The-Knee Brown Boot $565

Sigh, what dreamy shoes…that was fun!

PRETTY PRINCESSES

Fashion
Oct 24, 2011

I loved the hair and makeup at Louis Vuitton's spring 2012 show…all of the girls looked like fairy princesses. I loved the carousel they rode on during the show. The models wore stacks of false eyelashes and deconstructed french twists accessorized with tiaras and rhinestone headbands. I tried to create a rough approximation of the Louis Vuitton hair for some photos I took yesterday. Rough being the operating word here….

(I tried the false eyelashes too..I managed to get two pairs on, I couldn't believe it!)
