My mom and I have been really excited for her new Vitamix blender to arrive, and since it got here we have been smoothie making machines. This is the first recipe we tried, and so far, it is my favorite! I can't believe how energetic I feel after I've had one. I love to see all the greens that are going into the smoothie all layed out on the counter–so many beautiful veggies!
My mom found this recipe–she told me Paula Abdul loves it, so it has to be perfect, obviously.
Green Smoothie from Dr. Oz
1 cup chopped fresh kale
1 cup chopped fresh or frozen spinach
1½ tbsp hemp seeds
1 tsp chia seeds
½ avocado
½ banana
½ apple
1 cup coconut water or apple juice, if you prefer it a little bit sweeter
A few drops of stevia for added sweetness (optional)
Serve over ice!
