A quickly thrown-together outfit I put on for the busy day ahead! My “dad jeans” have been my go-to this winter. Wearing a Three Dots coat with vintage Levi’s (similar here), Chloe heels from spring 2008, an oversized textured scarf from Barneys, and aviator sunglasses. I’m trying to enjoy the sunshine before it drops back down to 19 degrees tonight. I’m looking forward to making a big pot of soup tonight (maybe curried cauliflower??) and getting under the blankets with the dogs once the day is done!
GOODBYE 2014
Shoe Sale Crushes
So many cute shoes got marked down this season! So, so tempting. I have my mind on a certain pair (or two or three).

SWEATER DRESS + A TRENCH
I wore this cashmere sweater dress on a brisk but beautiful day while out running Christmas errands a few days back. This weather was a nice reprieve from the grey wet gloom we’ve been experiencing here. This dress is the softest and warmest thing I own, I’m afraid I’m going to wear it to shreds!
Wearing a Steven Alan sweater dress with a trench coat, vintage Chanel bag, and Chloe boots from a few years back.
VINYL
When I was in New York on Monday I popped into Topshop and found these vinyl pants on sale. Such a great cheap thrill, I wore them all through last week last week! These photos were taken at the onset of a nasty cold I am nursing right now. I’ve been in a Nyquil haze for a few days now, drinking hot toddies and TV binging on the Good Wife and Black Mirror. Wanting to be well in time for my birthday tomorrow and for baking Christmas cookies!
Wearing Topshop pants with a Rag & Bone cable-knit sweater and Balmain boots with my Lotuff Tripp bag.

LAND BEFORE TIME
A bit of a throwback Thursday….these were some shots I’ve been holding onto from our trip to Marfa this past October. My mom and I spent went crazy styling the looks we did during that trip. This was a particularly fun one with a Prada cardigan from fall 2007. I always feel like West Texas is calling me back, I could have spent forever taking in it’s wild landscapes. It really is the land that time forgot. This particular trip produced some of the best memories I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to get back there!

ADVENTURES IN RED HAIR
This may come as a surprise to exactly no one, but I don’t come by my red hair naturally. As any fauux redhead will tell you, maintaining this color is a lot of work! I’ve tried tons of crazy products and home tint jobs to make my color last and I have the stains on bathroom counters to prove it. So when I was approached by Paul Mitchell to test their new Ultimate Color Repair collection, I immediately said yes! Color protection is the number one priority in my hair care routine, and this promises up to 9 week protection. Paul Mitchell has always been so superior in my experience, I couldn’t wait to try the Ultimate Color Repair system.
The three step systems consists of a sulfate-free shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in treatment. It’s designed to target all of the damaging factors that contribute to color loss, offering major heat protection and conditioning color-lock in treatment, which is so important to me!
First things first, I needed my color done. I was incredibly lucky to have Lucie Doughty, Paul Mitchell’s editorial director, come visit me at the Paul Mitchell School here in Texas. We had so much fun!!
As you can see, the color turned out phenomenally. It is so ruby red, I am in love with it! This is the color I always wanted!
I got to use the Ultimate Color Repair system for the first time and my hair loved it. It was so soft, bouncy and shiny. Very unlike the snaggly mess my fine hair usually is after I shampoo. I’m looking forward to seeing how my color holds up over the next few weeks. I’ll be updating with the results! I love my new color so much that I am very inspired to play with some new styles.
This post is a sponsored conversation with Paul Mitchell, and as always opinions and text are my own thoughts.
