OLD FASHIONED

Fashion
Sep 22, 2010

Wearing vintage patched Levi's (one of my most prized possessions) with The Dress & Co blouse and leather suspenders I got in Japan. The lace up booties are Prada 2006.

I am obsessed with all of the things I got from The Dress & Co. Opening Ceremony carries a selection of their things now…I hope that next season they buy more. I love how heavy this blouse is–real quality design.

If I don't get around to posting until this weekend, its because I'm taking an unexpected jaunt to New York. Yikes..dreading the flight. Until next time!

No words to capture my love for these spotted Alaia ponyhair hiking booties…

Worn with a 70's Mongolian lamb fur jacket, Levi's jeans, and a hot pink Comme des Garcons square scarf I stole from my mom.

JIL SANDER

I was recently sent this season's beautiful Jil Sander shoes.

Can't get over the detail on them!!

Today I went to grab lunch at the Prairie House in Roanoke. Not too many non-meat items so I went for the kids grilled cheese, served with smiley fries. Pretty demented. I don't like my food to smile at me.

I like that they serve their iced tea in humongous mason jars.

I saw a lot of real cowboys at the Prairie House too.

Have a great weekend!

MY NEW BEST FRIEND

Today is a quick outfit post because I'm anxious to show off this vintage necklace I just got. Look at how happy he is. I love his bow tie and his absurd eyelashes. He has eight eyelashes but only seven legs. Go figure. I would really like to know who the designer was, as this piece isn't signed. He's one in a million, isn't he?

Worn with vintage Emanuel Ungaro dress, vintage Yves Saint Laurent corset belt, and Barney's Co-Op over the knee boots.

Shots of a Custo Barcelona shearling jacket with illustrations printed all over it-would like to know who did the illustrations! One of my favorite things.

From NYC

I've taken a little break from blogging this week-I arrived in New York on Thursday. I came to be shot for an exciting Vogue Nippon story-was such an honor to be included and the shoot was exhilarating. I stayed a couple days longer to hang out with blog friends and other people from the internet.

Funnily enough, my good friend Tina (of the BagSnob) was on my flight to NY. I'm a nervous wreck on airplanes and  we had a horrible landing-the landing strip in La Guardia is too short for my tastes.

It's been pretty non-stop since I arrived. The Chanel Soho reopening cocktail party and the dinner that followed were kind of magical. I am sad I didn't bring my camera for this trip.  I spent all night stalking Daphne Guiness. A really cool moment for me was having a conversation with Brad Goreski, Rachel Zoe's assistant, and asking him if worked in the industry. Didn't even recognize him. PALM TO FACE. Let me just say he is even more handsome in person!! And so sweet. What a night that was, had so much fun with Tina.

Picture from WWD. Wearing an Ivan Grundahl sweater, vintage octopus necklace, J. Crew pants, and ponyhair Alaia hiking booties.

Glamourai
Wow, Texan bloggers united! Me & Tina & Kelly of The Glamourai. Kelly is a New Yorker now but she's originally from Austin.

The Vogue Nippon shoot was super fun-I was glad that some very sweet friends were on set when I arrived (I'm talking to you, Bryan and Denni) Bryanboy left the set flicking his new weave over his face. Look at it!

My shoes as shot by Refinery29…they sure are comfy for fashion week.

After a crazy weekend it was so nice to wind down with a relaxing dinner at Soho House with some very, very funny and cool ladies: Elizabeth (White Lightning), Zana (Garbage Dress), Tavi (The Style Rookie), Laia (Geometric Sleep), and Deanne (Dream Sequins). I know many of us have had these Twitter/Blogmances brewing for a very long time so it was pretty great to finally hang out in actual real life.

Please allow me to steal some of Zana's photos from last night. Excuse my repeat outfit, I packed really weird for this trip.

And here is shoe shot..

Blodladiesshoes

Zana's mid-calf triple lace Ann D's (holy cow!), Elizabeth's 90's Nine West boots with a very Margiela-esque heel, my Alaia calfhair leopard hiking booties, Laia's Alex Wang brogues, and Tavi's Miu Miu/Rodarte combination.
Thank you for an amazing night, ladies….I hope I see you again really soon.

I also got to see the Roberts–of Igor and Andre. Danny and David are real gems-total gentleman and super cute. I hope you guys come to Texas again soon!

Well, I hope everyone is having a great fashion week and it was really nice to meet so many readers and new friends. And so exciting to meet some of my favorite bloggers! I'll be back in New York next month to speak at Teen Vogue University with my mom and to do an exciting collaboration with one of our favorite vintage stores What Goes Around Comes Around. Regular blogging will resume this week-thanks for reading!

DEBONAIR DEBONAIR

Fashion

No, really…the label of this studded 80's asymmetrical jacket is "Debonair Debonair Raw Leather". Interesting choice on the name. Thrift find.

Worn with orange and black striped jeans from Le Grand Bleu in Tokyo-they are mens jeans. They have a wax python-embossed coating on them. My mom and I take turns with the "Big Bottom Lady" choker I'm wearing. Last night she wore it so today I got to take her out on the town. Also wearing a lot of vintage jewelry, Urban Outfitters tank top, Lucky Brand hat, and Givenchy cowboy booties.
