PRADA FAUX-FUR DIY

Fashion
Jun 24, 2011

My mom and I both loved the fox stoles shown at Prada's spring 2011 show. Every picture I saw of them in editorials and fashion week photos (and there were a lot) made me want one more.
Last week my mom announced her mission to DIY a faux-fur version for us…a week and a delivery of crazy muppet fur later and I love her finished product! Totally whimsical.

I chose a two tone combination of checkered cheshire-cat faux fur and neon pink shag for my stole, with turqoise lining.

My mom matched hers to a pair of her new Miu Miu shoes. I love it!!!

If you want a how-to, go to my mom's blog! She is the mastermind behind it, and she knocked it out in under two hours. Thanks for the stole Mom, we're going to have fun with these :)

DON’T WANNA THINK ABOUT IT

Fashion
Jun 21, 2011

It has become too hot to even think about getting dressed. I’ve worn this outfit two days in a row. On top of the triple digit heat, we’ve had hurricane-like wind gusts. I feel like I’m living under a hairdryer! I do enjoy a good halter top though, so I guess there has never been a better time to get them out.

Wearing a Prada nylon skirt I got at an outlet mall four years ago, a 70’s striped halter top, and Chloe criss-cross patent leather heels from spring 2007, 70’s choker necklace and an 80’s Carlos Falchi clutch.

TOMBOY

Fashion
Jun 17, 2011

I love swing skirts, 50's prom dresses, and puffy shoulders with tapering sleeves but sometimes I have to wonder why because on the inside I have never felt very feminine. An outfit like this is a little more true to my nature. When I got these mannish Rugby carpenter pants this winter I wore them just about every day for three months straight, so it was nice to revisit them. I got the J Crew shirt I got on sale last week, and the suspenders are The Dress & Co. from Hotel55 boutique in Tokyo. The hat was a last minute addition that I stole from my dad, and the buckle sandals are Giuseppe Zanotti.

BLACK TIE

Fashion
Jun 14, 2011

Keeping it all black in a drapey 70s blouse and Nannette Lepore skirt. Can you stand seeing the Miu Miu's one more time?? I love them.

Thanks for the wet one, Denise! The square sunglasses I'm wearing below are Ralph Lauren.

NEW MIU MIU’S

Fashion
Jun 11, 2011

Scored these amazing Miu Miu's sale shopping yesterday–they are my new favorite shoes! Not only are they beautiful, but they are incredibly comfortable. Miu Miu knocked it out of the park with their shoes this season…!

SULTRY SUMMER

Fashion
Jun 5, 2011

Mom and I had an idea to give the back patio a little makeover–we thought this would be a fun idea for an outdoor summer party. It was all done with old rugs, tons of throw pillows, and these big brass candle holders my mom has been collecting.

As soon as we set it up, we realized we had a problem on our hands–Kim the chihuahua decided it was totally her style. As you can see from the photos she was determined to lounge on every surface and basically treat the new set-up as her personal chihuahua jungle gym. So glad you liked it, Kim ;)

BANGSPIRATION

BeautyHair
Jun 3, 2011

I'm doing this post partially to convince myself that my bangs will be more fun when they grow out but mostly because we all love big beautiful hair and pretty photos!

Brigitte Bardot–the most famous hair of all, perhaps

Jane Fonda looking bouncy and Barbie-ish

Marianne Faithful's tomboyish bangs are really cute because of how they fade into the rest of her hair so subtly.

Monica Vitti's tousled side swept up-do…don't you wish you could do this to your hair..

Pamela Courson of the Doors had adorable bangs

BB with a a teased bouffant that is tall even by her standards!

Very young Jane Fonda with polished bangs

One of my favorite modern adaptions of bangs–very jagged and youthful. This was from Yves Saint Laurent's fall 2006 show–the picture I brought to the hairdresser when I had mine cut!

PYTHON

Fashion
May 30, 2011

I was given this amazing orange faux python skirt by the amazing girls from Fruition when I met them in Las Vegas! I hope I can get back to Las Vegas to see them again soon, their store is amazing. I feel like a Spice Girl in this skirt! I'm wearing it with a 70s Chloe blouse, a Micheal Morrison studded belt, and Gucci wooden platforms.
