Style Yourself Moodboard Contest

Fashion
Aug 4, 2011

I'm very excited to be hosting a moodboard contest in celebration of Style Yourself, a compilation of inspiration from 95 fashion bloggers all around the world. I had the pleasure of writing the foreword and contributing to the book and it's so cool to see it all come together-the book is amazing.

You can pick up a copy of Style Yourself here!
For a chance to win a copy of Style Yourself, you can enter the moodboard contest! Create a moodboard around whatever is inspiring your style right now, and send it to the contest's email box. It can be assembled digitally or you can collage it and scan it. Use your own photos, runway images, magazine scans, or your own drawings. It should be at least 600 pixels wide.
The contest will run for two weeks, so I'll be posting the top three winners August 18th. I can't wait to see your entries!

Perfect Cognac Boots

Fashion
Aug 2, 2011

Got these little Moma boots at American Rag while I was in LA. It was love at first sight, I love the harness and the way they've aged the leather. So pretty, I am dying to wear them!

TINY ANGORA SWEATER

Fashion
Jul 31, 2011

I got this 50's angora sweater at Vintage Martini a while back, it's kind of precious.  I wish I had identical copies of it in a rainbow of colors. Wearing it with a Magda Berliner lace skirt and Cavalli sandals from about ten years ago.

TRUE BLOOD BEAUTY

Fashion
Jul 29, 2011

The pretty packaging of the Tarte for True Blood eyeshadow palette caught my eye when I was browsing at Sephora–one peek inside the pallete and I had to have it. I ended up getting all three Tarte for True Blood products, including the genius lip stain and cheek stain. Below is a demo of how the products look on. Thanks to my sister for helping out with this!

Here is the packaging of the eyeshadow pallette–how cute is that?? In addition to the 17 high quality eyeshadows, it comes with a gel eyeliner, eyelid primer, and mascara.

Here is a look I created with the pallette. I am kind of in love wit the gel eyeliner, it goes on blacker than a liquid eyeliner. Very dramatic!

Here is a look my sister Carol created with it! She is much better at makeup than I am. When we shot these makeup looks, we didn't have the lip tint from the collection yet. In these photos we just used the cheek stain on our lips.

Tarte for True Blood natural cheek stain

The cheek stain is really lovely! If you like a bare-faced look then this is all you need. Its a sheer bright red stain with a shimmery finish. It looks like a natural flush. I've found it to be very long lasting too. Below I am wearing just the cheek stain–dabbed on my lips too.

My sister and I were so thrilled with the Tarte for True Blood eyeshadow palette and cheek stain that we went back to Sephora to get the Tarte for True Blood Lipsurgence Natural Lip Tint. I am glad we did because it's gorgeous. It's a sheer iridescent red stain with flecks of gold in it. Very buildable.

I have to admit that we recently started watching the show and are all True Blood junkies now. We started season 2 last night.

Have a great weekend!

RELAXING WEEKEND

Fashion
Jul 26, 2011

Spent a relaxing Sunday at the Belmont with my mom and my sister and my girlfriends. Shelley and Kim came too. So much fun swimming with a view of the skyline.

Wearing Barbara Bui boots and a vintage dress from a flea market.

Fun in LA

Above is a snap of the adorable lobby in Maison 140.

LA was amazing last weekend. A high of 75 degrees…I felt like I was in Nirvana the whole time. I was in town for an exciting video shoot for CFDA & Vogue Eyewear's City Collection collaboration with designer Yeohlee…shooting it was quite an adventure. We shot in Hollywood Hills for one of our locations–what a view!

Here's some behind the scenes snaps. Yeohlee is such an inspiring woman…it was incredible to have the chance to meet and spend time with her.

Found a cool spiderweb holding a mist of dewdrops on a bush.

After the video shoot my dad and sister joined us in LA for a relaxing weekend of eating and shopping. Mom got the cute leopard grey Current & Elliot jeans you see above! I got the cognac mid-calf riding boots  I'm wearing in the elevator. My little sister is leaving for school in Wales at the end of August, so I'm treasuring every day I get to spend with her until then.

We got to go to Villa Blanca restaurant in Beverly Hills..being a Real Housewives of Beverly Hills junkie, this was extremely exciting for me. We saw Ken and Lisa Vanderpump! You can't believe how beautiful Lisa is in person. Ken patted our dog Kim!

Of course, Kim had to come with us to LA. Kim is such a trooper when we travel. We love this dog with all our heart. It was a little chilly so we had to get her a shirt…a pink tee with a rhinestone chihuahua on the back. I felt like Paris Hilton carrying her around like that…no not even, maybe like Snookie. Kim was not embarrassed by it though.

Have a great weekend!

Revisiting my Crazy 70s Groupie Boots

Fashion
Jul 22, 2011

I got these boots 3 years ago on a road trip to Austin–haven't posted them in so long! Definitely need to get these out again. No label on them! I wonder if they were custom-made. I would have loved to have met the person who dreamed them up.
