BLACK & WHITE

Outfits
Mar 15, 2012

Quick outfit thrown together to grab lunch at Rise wearing my beloved tulle Chanel bowtie shoes with Madewell Skinny Skinny jeans in white, and a StyleNanda blouse and lace vest. This was totally not what I started the day wearing…I feel a little self concious walking my dog in my apartment complex because my neighbors must think, "That girl has worn five different outfits this morning!"

SUN AFTER THE RAIN

After a WEEK of miserable weather, the sun came out to shine on Sunday! And it brought an extra hour of sunlight with it. Yeah!! I get so excited when daylight savings time comes around in spring, it is practically a holiday to me.

It was an occasion to celebrate and that is why I am wearing such happy colors. The red peacoat is a vintage find from Austin and the yellow & purple tee is a favorite t-shirt that I found in Tulsa. The paisley scarf is from J. Crew. Vintage Levi's cut-offs and gorgeous grey boots sent to me by Thakoon. The shape of these boots is divine!

I'm going to leave you with a link to one of my favorite songs-hope it is a beautiful day, wherever you are!

SUNDAY TURQUOISE

Outfits
Mar 4, 2012

Looking at the Isabel Marant show again yesterday inspired me to get out some of my western pieces…this concho belt was given to my sister by my grandmother. Wearing the bronze version of the Legacy jean that was an exclusive at Neimans a few months ago with a 70's Edwardian inspired blouse and Prada python sandals.

I love that Isabel Marant did emroidered western shirts for her fall 2012 collection. It made me smile to see a little bit of Texas in Paris. I'm going to have to run to the thrift store and pick up a few more. The ones with realy beautiful embroidery from the 50's can get quite pricey, but that would be a great collection to start!

The SHOES were beyond amazing too–very funky, I want the boots!

TUXEDO DRESS

Outfits
Mar 1, 2012

I ordered this 70's tuxedo style taffeta sundress in preparation for the amazing weather we were supposed to get this week–I'm glad the weather man came through and I got to wear it! It was such a beautiful day, my mom and I wanted to go have lunch on the nice patio at Patrizio's in Highland Park. These were snapped on our walk to the restaurant. I must say the big tangerine door at Tory Burch is pretty compelling.

I didn't snap the shoes, but they are my absolute favorite Dolce & Gabanna star shoes.

WHOLE FOODS BEAUTY FINDS

Feb 28, 2012

Things have been so busy since I moved, I haven’t had time to make the usual run to Sephora and for a while I was living out of sample packets. Now that I have the luxury of being close to a Whole Foods, I decided to try a couple of their beauty products and have made some amazing discoveries that I had to share.

I get a lot of questions from fellow faux-redheads about how to make their color last…I tried mixing Manic Panic in with my conditioner but that was a flop. Some of the color-depositing shampoos can make your color much darker too. I think I have finally found the perfect combo of shampoo and conditioner to make the red last without changing the color. The Shikai Color Reflect Warm Shampoo I found at Whole Foods does wonders for the auburn tones in my hair. I have used Aveda Madder Root Color Conditioner for a long time because it makes my hair so soft and deposits beautiful color.

I cannot believe how great some of these skin care products are!! I feel like I have a new face since I’ve been using them.

I’m particularly in love with Andalou Naturals Probiotic + C Renewal Cream. For me the point of any skincare regimen is to keep your skin drenched with moisture all day long and this cream will keep your skin saturated and dewy all day long, without the grease. I think for the price it is an INCREDIBLE product! The Andalou Naturals Facial Scrub Lemon Sugar is the perfect consistency for exfoliation. I am loving their mandarin vanilla body lotion too! I don’t think you can go wrong with this line, and it won’t break the bank. Can’t wait to try the day cream I just got.

I love using skincare with Vitamin C (I exfoliate with Emergen-C packets when I travel) and the Avalon Organics Balancing Vitamin C Facial Toner does some pretty amazing things. I’m not going to pretend I know what photo-aging defense is, but I’ll take it.

I’m liking the pineapple enzyme facial cleanser and sugar body polish from Alba–again, great products for a totally reasonable price. Looks like I won’t be making the trip to Sephora any time soon after all!

Kim says her skin is a little dry and she needs some day cream ;) What a helpful product tester she is!
