MAKE-UP

BeautyMakeup
Jan 22, 2011

A quick post to answer some questions about makeup. Also an excuse to photograph makeup–who doesn't love looking at cute makeup packaging? I love make-up, and I'm probably one of the few people who believe that make-up is good for your skin. It creates a barrier against the yucky bacteria out there! I break out when I don't wear makeup…even if it's just a little bit everyday.

Pictured above and below are some of my everyday go-to products.

Kevyn Aucoin's concealer is goopy and rich–just a tiny bit will cover just about anything. Also, if you don't have a copy of his book Making Faces in your life, it's fantastic.

Guerlain's Meteorites are beautiful for evening your skin tone and adding a pop of shimmer, plus the round container feels very old Hollywood! Too Faced Absolutely Invisible Pressed Powder is the best for travelling and touch-ups.

Stila's Convertible Color in Petunia is a pinky cream blush that's also pretty on the lips. Sometimes I dust on a shimmery beige powder on top–I can't remeber the name of the one I use, I picked it up at Duane Reade! Sorry.

I have super oily eyelids so Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion is a lifesaver. I love using a nude eyepencil under the rims of my eyes, I can't explain the effect well, but it makes your eyes look like a baby's. Nude eyeliners are hard to find but Mineral Fusion and Paula Dorf make one.

Lipstick Queens big fat lip crayons are so awesome, have one in almost every purse.

Eyebrow gel is essential too.

Here is some makeup I use for more special occasions..

For pale girls looking for very very pale foundations, Beauty is Life is great new makeup line that has them. This foundation is extremely lightweight.

The red lipstick I use is Serge Lutens–I believe its 'Or Frele'. The other one pictured is a beautiful pale pink by a Japanese company called Canmake. I always stock up on makeup in Japan for me and my sister–they have the most amazing products–and cute packaging. I use a Japanese mascara too.

Cargo makes a great shimmery pink blush–it from their blu_ray collection. I also like to use Benefit's High Beam luminizer on my cheekbones at night

I like shimmery nailpolishes because they stay on forever and silver goes with every shoe. I LOVE Deborah Lippmann's nailpolishes, every single shade. I use 'Birthday' as a topcoat on everything. Sonia Kashuk has a good chrome shade too at Target.

Hope this answers any questions! Maybe in the future I'll do a skincare/fragrance/hair post.

I'm in Palm Beach for an event at House of Lavande tonight. I'm about to go hit the thrift stores. Thrifting in Palm Beach is tantamount to paradise for me.

Have a great weekend!
